Surfboard Grip Pads
When you start to do turns and tricks on your surfboard, you may notice that you need a bit more push from your back foot. A surfboard pad provides more traction than surfboard wax, allowing you to make those tough turns. Tail pads are perfect if freestyle is something you enjoy as you will be able to nail much harder tricks and take over the waves.
How to Choose a Surfboard Traction Pad
The basic role of a surfboard grip pad is quite simple, so as long as you pick a quality pad, you should be fine. However, there are some features that might vary across different pads. Different textures and patterns can offer a different feel underfoot when you surf. Each pad has a different-sized arch bar running through the middle, which helps with both grip and also knowing your foot’s location on the board. Finally, most tail pads come with a kick – a small step on the back that helps when performing near-vertical moves. Each of the tail pads that we stock are made of the highest quality material and are easy to apply to your surfboard. Each surfboard tail pad locks into the board to ensure that it doesn’t move with the board as this could lead to problems on the water. If your tail pad is slightly bigger than the foot of your board, most can be cut down, just make sure this is done carefully to avoid damaging the pad.
