For the particularly hot months during the summer, we offer a diverse range of kids shorty wetsuits! With a short-sleeved arm and leg, your child can enjoy the sea with greater mobility. With these suits, your child can enjoy the sea while being protected and warm! If your child is looking for a quick splash around, we also offer rash vests for children that protect from harmful UV rays and offer a quick-drying solution that ensures they can still play in the sea and enjoy the sun!
With a wide range of thicknesses and sizes to choose from, check out our guide on how to size your child’s wetsuit based on the season and age! For the colder months from October to April, you'll need to increase the thickness and consider a couple of winter accessories. We have a great range of children’s winter wetsuits that insulate the body and allow for long-lasting sessions.
Wetsuits are designed to be a snug fitting garment, fitting like a second skin. One of the primary purposes of a wetsuit is to help retain bodyheat in cold water temperatures by insulating the skin, therefore having gaps between the skin and the suit allows cold water to flush through. With a lot of childrens clothing it’s possible to size up and allow them to grow into it, this isn’t the case with wetsuits.
Sizing should be as close to exact as possible, wrinkles in the suit will mean gaps for water to get into. Our wetsuit sizing guide has a useful section of how to size accurately for children.
Children with sensitive skin may find that a wetsuit rubs or causes rashes, if this is the case for your child we’d suggest trying them with a rash vest, to provide a barrier between their skin and the neoprene of the wetsuit. Rash vests are designed to be tight fitting, as not to cause wrinkles or issues while the wetsuit is on and to keep the wetsuit fitting snugly.
It’s unlikely that your children will be in the sea during the really cold months of the year, although if this is the case then our kids winter wetsuits are the perfect option. Because of this, we’d recommend looking for a 2mm full suit or a 3/2 split wetsuit that protects the body with 3mm of neoprene and the arms with 2mm. This should provide ample insulation from the water temperature while not becoming uncomfortable in the sun - it’ll also provide some UV protection as well.
