Kids Shorty Wetsuits

SHORTY CHILDRENS WETSUITS FOR BOYS & GIRLS

Wetsuit Centre stocks a vast range of kids' shorty wetsuits from respected brands such as Ripcurl kids wetsuits, Rip Curl children's wetsuits & Billabong Kids Shorty Wetsuits. A shorty wetsuit will give your child maximum flexibility whilst keeping them warm. Short limbed wetsuits are perfect for the UK summer months of July and August when the water is generally warmer or for a holiday abroad. Smooth skin is used on the front and back to reduce wind penetration through the wetsuit on those sunny but windy days. They are an excellent option for a first-time wetsuit for your child, as they are often more budget friendly. This isn't because a child's shorty wetsuit is of worse quality but because they require less neoprene to create compared to a full-length kids wetsuit.

CHILDRENS WETSUITS

Buying the right wetsuit for kids can be tricky, so the first thing you need to decide is when your children will use their wetsuit? If you intend to get them in the water from April to October, a 3mm full-length wetsuit will be sufficient to keep them warm. If they want to go in the water from November to March, then a 5mm full suit is the best choice to ensure they stay warm and enjoy their time in the sea. Some children easily feel the cold, so they will benefit from wearing a 5mm winter wetsuit all year round. If it is only going to be a general beach use wetsuit for surfing or bodyboarding when on summer holidays, then an entry level suit such as the kids O'Neill reactor will be more than enough to keep them warm and comfortable. If they are a little more committed and want to be in the water as long as possible, consider investing in the O'Neill Epic 3mm wetsuit, which has high-tech neoprene and features a thermal lining to preserve their body warmth.

How Should A Childs Wetsuit Fit?

It is always difficult for a parent or guardian to know which wetsuit to purchase for their child. We all know that children grow at such a rate that you want the most you can from the wetsuit. However, you need to be aware that buying a wetsuit that is too big can lead to them becoming cold in the water. This is because the water will sit on the lumbar region and cool down their kidneys, which in turn makes them feel colder. A little bit of wiggle room is fine but check above the bum, and if you can pull a lot of material away from the body, this will not be good for keeping them warm. The key measurements when buying the suit are the chest and waist, which make for the best fit.
