By all means, give it a go; however, you will find that without a proper spearfishing wetsuit, you won't be able to gain any depth in the water. No, it is illegal to spearfish in the UK whilst scuba diving. In fact, it is illegal through the EU, and there is no expected review of this policy after Brexit. Therefore only free-diving spearfishing is permitted.
